Welcome to our life!

Hi, I´m Allison! I grew up in Connecticut, and never thought I would wander too far from the tri-state area. I went to school in Maryland, where I met some amazing friends and studied Speech Pathology. In 2000, I spent a semester abroad in Ireland, which was definately one of the most amazing times of my life. While abroad, I met my husband Joern through family friends. Joern is German, and grew up in Baden-Wuertemberg Germany. Joern is the most wonderful guy. He loves traveling, food, and cars. In June 2001, we got married in CT. Our wedding was small but very beautiful. I moved to Germany in December 2001, and have lived here ever since. We live near Stuttgart, the home of Daimler-Chrysler and Porsche. Joern and I enjoy taking long drives, trying new things, and of course, discovering new places.

How far along?: 23 weeks

*Total weight gain: I will probably find out tomorrow
*How big is baby?: The baby is still the size of a papaya

Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.  from www.thebump.com

*Maternity clothes?: All I can say is "yoga pants at work."
*Sleep?:  Sleeping pretty well.

*Best moment this week?:  Comparing my pictures from last week and this week.  The bump grew!

*Movement?: Erbse has been wiggling around at work and at home.  He's busiest in the morning, from about 8-12, and then again around 5:00.  I get a few kicks when I am getting ready to sleep too.
*Food cravings?: fruit, veggies

*Labor signs?: Too early!

*Belly button in or out?: Still an innie, and still rather painful!

*What I miss: sleeping on my right side

*What I'm looking forward to: more Erbse kicks!

*Milestone: Two weeks till 25!  17 more to go!

*Other Erbse related news:  Tomorrow is my glucose tolerance test.  I'm super nervous, but know that it is the right decision.  No name yet.  Oh, and my goal for this week is to order a mattress.
